Welcome to Lower Left Improv, your home for improv comedy classes, performances, training, and all-around good times in the Four Corners region of Colorado!
We live, work, and play in the Lower Left corner of Colorado, Durango to be exact. It is from this amazing location that we share our love of improvisational comedy with students and audiences of every age, ability level, and background.
Comedy has no boundaries beyond the confines of your imagination, so join us and embrace your creative instincts, get crazy, make new friends, and watch the funny fly!
We’ll introduce you to (or reacquaint you with) the art of improvisational comedy. The secret (shhh) to learning the fundamentals of improv is simple: allow yourself to have fun!
What you and your fellow performers build together will be the stuff of legend! We’ll focus on character development to establish where the characters are and why we’re watching them.
Character development is nothing without good relationships (Freud was right!). We’ll discover the depths of relationships. Why does this scene matter? Why are we watching this now?
Be truthful and the funny will come! We’ll introduce you to long-form improvisation and unleash the skills you have honed in the Green Module. Scene work, characters, and environment.
Improv is like a box of chocolates…. Long-form improvisation has as many forms as it has ideas. We will introduce and play with different form structures.
Let’s build a show! We’ll weave multiple scenes into a cohesive narrative while experimenting with story arcs and character evolution, building toward a triumphant live performance.
This 4-week introductory class will help you fall in love with the art of improvisational comedy! We’ll help you build a strong and confident foundation in this dynamic art form. Come play!
